Short presentation

Short Presentation
The Department, with its network of healthcare hospital and family planning facilities, provides trainees with the opportunity of being involved in the management of a wide range of clinical and surgical cases in the field of general obstetrics & gynaecology and the sub-specialities. To give some numbers, an average of 20,000 deliveries, 40,000 surgical operations and 600,000 outpatients are handled per year. During the 5 years of residency, rotations are organised in such a way as to cover all Ob/Gyn areas. The training programme includes theoretical lessons/hands-on with simulators and skill-drills. Indeed, the Research and Educational Center for Obstetrics and Gynaecology of the University of Torino, based in the Sant’Anna Hospital and recently refurbished, offers the ideal setting to organise intensive hands-on hysteroscopy / laparoscopy courses, set-up according to the European Academy of Gynaecological Surgery Standards. Regular training courses in Ob/Gyn ultrasound and in the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of the most common obstetric emergencies are held with the objectives of updating theoretical knowledge and strengthening the practical know-how and abilities. Trainees are also offered the opportunity to obtain the GESEA (Gynaecological Endoscopic Surgical Education and Assessment) Certification, to attend Congresses and Workshops and to participate in several research activities.
