It is with profound sadness that we mourn the passing of Professor Alexandros Rodolakis, a distinguished Greek Professor of Obstetrics and Gynecology and Gynecological Oncology at the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, who passed away on August 8, 2026.
Professor Rodolakis was a leading figure in Greek and international Obstetrics and Gynecology, whose distinguished career was marked by exceptional academic achievement, clinical excellence, and dedicated service to his profession.
He served as Director of the 1st Obstetrics-Gynecology Clinic of NKUA at Alexandra Hospital, where he made an important contribution to the advancement of gynecological oncology and to the education and training of generations of physicians.
A respected leader in the medical community, he served as President of the Hellenic Society of Obstetrics and Gynecology and President of the Hellenic Society of Gynecological Oncology. He was internationally recognized for his important work in the conservative and surgical treatment of gynecological cancers.
Professor Rodolakis was also actively involved in international professional organizations, including the European Society of Gynaecological Oncology (ESGO). He served as Country Representative and Country Coordinator for Accreditation and Hospital Visitation for the European Board and College of Obstetrics and Gynaecology (EBCOG), further strengthening Greece’s presence and contribution to European Obstetrics and Gynecology.
Professor Alexandros Rodolakis was a true leader of Greek Obstetrics and Gynecology. His scientific contributions, clinical work, leadership, and commitment to his patients and colleagues leave a lasting legacy.
His passing is a great loss to the medical and scientific community. He will be deeply missed by his colleagues, students, patients, friends, and all those who had the privilege of knowing and working with him.
