Short Presentation
Our department is a part of a general hospital. It has 91 beds for obstetrics and gynaecology. It has its own ICU and one-day surgery ward. The outpatient department has approximately 21 200 visits in the last year. The reproductive medicine and oncogynaecology units are situated outside the hospital. The department has 28 specialists and 14 subspecialists (6 in perinatal medicine, 2 in oncogynaecology, 2 in paediatric gynaecology, 2 in urogynaecology, and 2 in reproductive medicine). Currently, the department has 11 trainees and 4 tutors for doctor in training. The department serves as a National Centre for Foetal Congenital and Genetic Disorders. The department covers broad spectrum of both gynaecologic and obstetrics procedures, thus providing adequate training for trainees in Obstetrics and Gynaecology. Our department takes part in research projects (involving our trainees) and publishes papers in international scientific journals. Our clinic serves also as teaching facility for both undergraduate students from Slovak Medical University and trainees from other department who want to specialise in obstetrics and gynaecology or its subspecialties. We also participate in clinical audit activities, such as: perinatal audit, maternal mortality audit and oncogynaecology audit.
